On display at the North Salem Library

Beginning April 1st, I've been asked to display my artwork in my hometown, North Salem Library (Westchester County, NY), in a newly acquired art space! 8-10 of my works will be on display (including this library etch), likely throughout Spring. It's an honor to be recognized by the town I grew up in, so I'm very excited and grateful for the opportunity.

Thanks to everyone who's followed my work, booked marked this page, facebooked liked, shared, commented, encouraged or helped in any way. I notice and appreciate it every time.

New York City Etch-a-Sketch (Pocket Version)

My first ever serious, full-sized Etch-a-Sketch created upon discovering a talent for the device was my New York cityscape. It was done from memory, not entirely accurate, based on what you see going into and out of the city via car or MTA. Because it wasn't done using a source image, and it was my first real attempt, it wasn't quite complex a sketch as some of my other city etches. Figuring it's something I can now easily replicate, I thought it would be fun to do a miniature version. Thanks for looking!

Art show at the Somers Library (Somers, NY)

I will be showcasing all of my art for the first time at the Somers Library all throughout the month of February. There will be a reception held on Saturday, Febraury 16th. If you live in the Westchester, NY area, I hope to see you there!

On a sad note, Etch-a-Sketch inventor André Cassagnes has passed away at the age of 86. He invented the toy in France in the late '50s, originally calling it the Telecran. He lived a nice, long life of inventing and working with fun things. Without his work, I'd likely never have delved as deep into the art world. I can paint and draw, but the joy and excitement people get from seeing my work on the Etch-a-Sketch inspires me to go in that direction. I can't imagine having gone the normal route. Here is an article about his passing which features my Boston Etch.

The Toy Chest in Ridgefield, CT

Sketched this for Ann, the owner of this small toy shop in downtown Ridgefield, Connecticut. It's an old fashioned place in an old fashioned part of town, which I think makes for a nice etch. Happy Holidays!

Facebook Follower Upgraded Etch

A while back, on facebook, I did some 5-minute practice speed-etchings of people who sent me a picture. I noticed one floating around recently, still used as a profile image. I'm really glad to see the quick work being enjoyed, but I think Joe Gleason deserves a better one and not a rushed effort. Here's an upgraded etch of Joe and his baby daughter.

If you want to maybe get etched sometime, follow me on facebook.

Times Square (work in progress)

I've been working on times square for half a year. I had to erase my first version after posting an earlier work in progress because I needed an etch and didn't have access to any others, so it was erased. I tried a second time and the spacing isn't right, I still have it, but I started again. I wasn't ever happy with how it was turning out, so I shook it and started again. This here is my forth attempt over the better part of the last year. Hope to finish soon...
